Petit Fours with a Twist and vintage plates from HelloLovelyInc.

Food post.

Again.

But there shall be less words for I have realized….

….It is very boring to read all the time before moving to point.

So, in here there shall be no beating around the bush

Not when there are two things to be talked about

Petit fours with a twist and beautiful vintage plates from HelloLovelyInc. Etsy shop!

Petit Fours first?

When I say with a twist, I mean the more relaxed, no sweat version!

Actually, what happened was, I wanted an assortment of cakes for myself on Sunday and the thought immediately went out to Petitfours. Ideally I wanted to do a chocolate version but since I’ll be the only one lapping it up, I settled for my trusted vanilla.

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter, softened

1/4 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup milk

3 egg whites

Directions

Mix dry and wet ingredients in different bowls, add dry to wet gradually and Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

The Twist

Traditionally, Petitfours comes in small bite sized squares, glazed and decorated with gum-paste flowers, Ganache or classic sugar glaze. I wanted more shapes to mine and used my cookie cutter instead. Wee!

I cut out 3 shapes and used 3 different types of frosting~

Coconut and lime, Chocolate ganache and classic strawberry

Ingredients & Directions

Coconut and lime- Smells like Paradise

In a bowl, mix 3 tbsp of confectioners sugar with 2 drops of lime juice and 2 drops of milk. Whisk well and refrigerate for a few minutes. Once a bit opaque, spread it on top of your pastry and dust with grated coconut

Chocolate Ganache- Straight from Sin’s Kitchen

Take a glass bowl and microwave 1 cup of chopped bittersweet chocolate. In another bowl warm 1/4th cup of heavy cream. When the cream reaches a lukewarm temperature, add molten chocolate and whisk well.

Classic Strawberry Glaze- A slice of Heaven

In a bowl, mix 3tbsp of confectioners sugar with 1 tbsp of strawberry pulp (Store bought or homemade). Pour glaze on top.

And now onto my oh so lovely vintage creamware plates from Michele’s Etsy shop!

This lady out there has an outstanding shop filled with vintage, creamy goodies- tell me to pick 10 and I’d ask you to stretch it to 15. It’s hard to pick one from her shop- everything screams old, beautifully vintage and charming. Think I am over doing? Look at this:

An assortment of vintage jewelry in the most delicious Robin’s egg Blue EVER! See those big studs? Jeez, they are to die for if only they looked good on Indian skin.

Or maybe this fantastic brooch? Which I am actually also ordering? Ye ye…I know. It’s nothing short of fabulous.

And this is just few from her lovely collection! Head to Michele’s shop HERE to see for yourself. There are a couple of teddybears I am really interested in 🙂

I bought these plates off Michele’s (and they are going to be a part of my wedding deco) and I am loving them every minute, every detail in them. I love their scalloped lacy edges, their beautiful cream color and the embossing at the back saying USA. It’s in one word: LOVELY.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Now that the man is back, the weekends are looking promising!

Ta!
