Stored glass jars and bottles can be a contributing reason in domestic strife. Did you know that? Well, as long as you can justify with proof (read: your lovely comments flowing in from every side), I guess it’s fine. That lets you be in a better position to argue, at the least. Lol…and why am I telling this to you? because I’m a glass jar and bottle junkie and I get looks all the time when I shamelessly want to pick up an empty bottle from a friend’s place! Yeah, yeah- exactly like that with cringed eyebrows, an elevated one side of the lip and a expression that clearly spells out: “HUH?”
Lol. Now although I am very very used to it ‘coz I know that when they see the end result, they’ll end up shamelessly bagging it off. I love them for that and they love me for who I am! An official glass jar junkie. Believe me, I love them together everywhere: they give a space so much character. And having mastered the art of staining them “aqua”, it was time to raise the mercury of this fashionable junkyard with some mercury glasses.
An easy peasy process, (it’s the easiest process by far which is also effective), a lil touch of mercury can really do wonders. I’m falling in love with them, every second! See how you’ll do it if you already don’t know it.
You’ll need
A glass jar
Mirror spray/ glass look mercury spray/ glossy silver spray
A water sprayer
A damp cloth
HOW
Clean your glass bottle thoroughly.
Spray the inside of your bottle with water.
Now, spray the insides with a very thin coat of glass paint
Allow it to dry.
You can leave it as it is or you can also distress it by rubbing the inside surface with a damp cloth.
Light a candle and bask in the glory of being creative.
I hope you’ll like it!
UPDATE
My product is now listed on ebay, so my fair ladies, you can bid it from only 150 INR!!!! Here is a link to it.
Love

Okay…this is getting eerie! I love glass jars & bottles too! And, I’ve been looking everywhere for the mirror spraypaint! Love your photos…and your jars of course!
Oh! An eerie psychic connection, a telepathic Coincidence or like minds think alike? How strange is that, that people miles apart, with no conversation about the same thinks exactly the same thing at the same time!
If you do not find a mirror paint, go with glossy silver. The effect kind of rubs in on same.
Your jars Sparkle! Edward Cullen will be jealous! 😉
Great Work!
Much Love from the Bee
hahahaha. Edward cullen. I know, what’s up with this glittery skin. Diamond Spa I presume?
Awesome! I have never even heard of mirror spray. Can I get it at a craft store? Where do I get a lovely green buddha bottle like that?
So good to see you Tammy! yes you can get it at a craft store quite easily…or any hardware store that keeps paints. Try Krylon. I think in the US that’s the brand that keeps it.
Oh, and that Buddha bottle is actually a spice holder that’s missing it’s base-lid. Obviously, it was sold for only 1$. I didn’t mind him without the lid at all.
Love the super simple diy! Visiting from BNOTP. 🙂
Thank you so much for visiting Heidi! And also for such a sweet note. I am off to see your BNOTP treasure!
The perfect justification for collecting jars and bottles! I just saw this demo’d on another blog too, this paint looks amazing, you did a great job. Such a beautiful blog too!
Thank you. And well, I now feel armed, now I have your vote of confidence too.
Wow, this looks sooo great! Love how the little votives turned out.

Thank you Jenny! Im sorry to moderate it now- for some twist of fate it didn’t reach to me until today. The net I tell you
Very cool DIY! I will have to try it with some shiny silver paint I have. Thanks so much for the great info!
Blessings,
Cindy
Hi Cindy 🙂 Yes, even shiny silver paint will work. Make sure it’s high gloss or at least glossy and not matte. Thank you for visiting.
That mercury votive looks awesome, I will have to try that! I always save my empty jars for something or other…..
thanks for your visit to Sugar and Trash! I hope that you will come back and link this up with my Show and Share linky party. Just click on the link on the sidebar, the party is still open.
Oh, Thanks Christine! Going right ahead 🙂
Wow, I love it! The sparkle when the candle is lit is beautiful!

Hah! Badawesome. This is a good one I learnt today. Btw, your basement is just, absolutely, soooo, cant express, superrrr. 😛
I have been looking for this paint FOREVER! My craft stores and Home Depot/Lowe’s don’t have it! And it’s way overpriced on Amazon.com 🙁 Might just have to bite the bullet and buy it! They look great!
Hi Lauren…well, I had to do some hunting too, but here’s the drift. Your craft store wouldn’t probably have it ‘coz this is hardware section! Yes, believe me 🙂 Go to a shop that sells acrylic and emulsion paint. I think it’s available in Krylon with the name looking glass paint. If you do not find that try any “Acrylic aerosol reflecting chrome” paint. These are the keywords. If you do not find that, buy chrome paint and a sprayer. That will also do.
You’ll find it dear. Best of luck.
Very pretty. I mmight have to try these.
Thank you vickie 🙂 Do try. they are fun.
Yay! My glass jar habit threatens our domestic happiness too because I’m NOT a hoarder, I just know they’ll come in handy for when I see something smart like this post! You’re so clever!
Thank you Alyson. All you need to do is just tell them: “My readers need me to see what I am doing with these glass jars. Too bad you cannot see possibilities..I can. I am a visionary”. hahahaha.
Just pretend you are wayyyyy too important than you really are.
