A Christmas tree with discarded window trims. That’s what I was up to all these days and believe me I have had mostly unproductive days. You know those days when you start a project with a lot of enthusiasm but end up heaping everything and taking refuge in a cup of coffee again and again, desperately trying to find the way out, but unfortunately even after an entire pot of coffee you are exactly where you were 3 hours back, creatively? So, I had a couple of “those” days but thanks to the much celebrated website betterhomesandgardens.com that I was able to finish this in a night and a day! Phew.

I was very intrigued by the paper trees and topiary, popping out this season in blog land. Obviously, the original idea was to make a topiary but somehow I wasn’t getting the look I was hoping for. You see, I’m a rustic, chic, country cottage style girl- I guess the topiary was too perfect for my decor. Hence, the plan was canned. Next I moved on to old book papers but somehow they too were looking a lil out of place. Maybe I had this rustic image pretty much stuck in my mind that negated all other options. Anyway, whatever it was, the above two quite didn’t work out for me. So, my last resort was to take a nap and rummage the trash storage. Lol, worked perfectly well for me!

I found these discarded window trims and the next few hours were simply spontaneous actions with no two thoughts. I cut away trims, each smaller then the other (ofcourse at each step i measured as to how much more the next trim needed cutting), nailed them, gave them a whitewash (Oldwhite) and let it dry for the night.

This morning, I added a bit of silver and loved it. This is going to be my dining table centerpiece.

So, what do yo think? Any feedback?

  2. Just saw your email about my lit branch post on my blog (athomeinthenorthwest.blogspot.com). Do you have a Target near you? They sell the lit branches for around $20. They are in the Christmas section in a tall, thin box.

    Thanks for reading my post!
