Good afternoon my crafty chicas! How’s it going on your part of the world? Who’s in snow? Who’s wearing the shorts? Who’s baking summat and who’s getting thirsty for some beer? In here my friends, it started to feel a lot like Spring. Its not cold, not too warm either, holding a cup of tea feels excellent in the mornings and a glass of iced tea in the afternoon; we are enjoying a fabulous weather by the sea and the heart is light and airy and colorful and oh-so-boho! I’m clear in my head, I feel focused, I feel excellent. For a change, in my otherwise white home, I’m loving a bit of color, for planters, I’m adding a wee bit of yellow and this happy mood is possibly reflecting on my work as well. The longer it stays the better for I know grumps know when I am happy!
A couple of years back, I picked up this very plain black tote for my office. The material is suede on the outside and satin inside. Well, it looked fabulous and I had no complaint- still don’t. But when a friend of mine brought me this mushroom patch from Haridwar, I simply couldn’t resist seeing how the two would look together; whether my beautiful, regal, classic black beauty like the fun of popping…umm some color. You see, for years I have saved this bag from different ideas that I had- I was scared I would spoil its grace. But maybe, silently it was waiting for its time, for the moment I placed it, I knew it would be perfect. She was taking it well. She needed some color!
So, I stuck the embroidered patch with fabric glue and painted around it a retro, 70’s flower in two contrasting bright colors. Yes, I am a die hard retro fashion fan and I wish I was born in the 60’s. In fact Rohan thinks I look like a girl from the black n white films. Bah! How I love that compliment. Also, if by now you are laughing at me thinking that maybe I do not know what that patch is all about, darlin’ lemme tell you. I wasn’t born yesterday. And those who think I do know a wee too much, guys, im a decor junkie and that’s about it 😛
Okay, to the point. I used acrylic colors, dried it for a night and here we are. I literally caught a colleague of mine to be my model. Sweet chick did it for me over green tea and grapes.
I really am liking the bright patch of color and the whimsy its bringing. Imagine this with a classic denim shorts, a white shirt, hoops, brown belt and some faded gold chains. I can die for it. So, what do you girls think? Nice no? or no?
Have a wonderful week
