Hello girls. How’s it going this evening in this lovely blogland? Done with the holiday wrap ups? Good. I finally am back to my senses and DIY’s and the fact that it took me almost an year and a half to figure out that I love beach style homes and I do stay in a coastal town to get all that I need to have my home transformed into a beach cottage! Well, better late than never.

My brother in law gifted me two side/end tables of which I have already talked about before. They were a nice antique black, fantastic on their own but somehow didn’t fit into my otherwise very white house. So, like expected, I went ahead and gave them a coat of old white and sanded them. But no sooner than I finish with the table, I realized that a beach style good table, needs a beach style good lamp. The lamp I had before was simply not going with it. Also, I wanted something that looks the least factory made. (Read: perfect)

Solution? DIY peeps. That’s what real girls do. We don’t go splurging on a 1000$ lamp ‘coz its stupid. Come on, give it to me!

So, what did I do?

I had a couple of real slender Sula Wine bottles that I thought would be perfect for my little table. Like thoughts like done! And boy does it look perfect. Or atleast that’s what my narcissist self think!

Here’s what I did:

I washed and dried the bottles.

Fixed wire with a screw driver to a bulb holder and taped it to it’s neck with wire tapes

The other end of the wire, I fixed to a 2-pin plug and fitted a bulb.

TO INSTALL THE SHADE

Open the bulb from the holder

Open the ring that fits the holder. Every holder will have one.

Place your shade into the holder socket and close the ring from top.

That’s it.

No drilling, no risks nothing. Simple, easy and effective.

**If you are electrically noob, just ask your hardware guy to fit a piece of wire to a bulb holder and a 2 or 3 pin plug. Simply attach it to the neck and you are good to go!

How sound it then?

    1. Rupa, I can completely understand what you’re talking about. Honestly, I’m a borderline lazy girl too. I just have my energetic times thats all.

    1. Thank you Revi. And it is so easy to make that you’ll never really want to buy a lamp again. Unless it’s something from Anthropologie and you have the budget ;P
