Halloa! Well, the crux of this post is when you cannot buy, make it. Also: How about 2 $ sound as opposed to 37$, for a set of 2 glasses? Good? Yes. I know. It feels blessed.
The other day, while we were out window shopping, you know your favorite thing to do at this time of the year is checking out Christmassy window decor or if you are someone like me, noting silently in your brain, what you can recreate, we came across a set of very pretty wine glasses with silver stems. Obviously, being me, my eyes instantly went onto the detailing. ‘Hmm’, I thought, ‘not silver, not steel but silvered’…’hmm’…’37$??? Whaaa??? For 2 glasses???” Evidently, we thought it was ridiculously priced and after a lot of fiddling that also included forced justifications that did not work, I kept them down and walked off.
Surprisingly, I was not sad at all and I went ahead with a faint smile on my face. Come on girls, we are the DIY republic. I knew I could rip it off.
Here’s the inspiration
Inference: All you need is a reflective paint or a Chrome paint. Simply tape the rest of the glass leaving the stems. Now spray paint it Chrome- give 2 thin coats and let it dry for about an hour. Take a shower and enjoy your port . A true artisan deserves these simple pleasures of life.
Long story cut short: A successful knock off in no time! Enjoy.

You are soooo creative Rukmini! I really like these…as I turn around sitting her at my table and ponder my existing wine glasses! I like port too! Haven’t had any in awhile, but tis the season! xo
Thank you Wendy 🙂 Well, to be honest, this is the easiest project I have done by far. And trust me what fun!
I love port…and we get some good ones here. You are right. It is the time for Port.
Happy Thanksgiving dear.
Wow! Your glasses are SO beautiful! I think I am going with a silver theme for my Christmas decorating this year so these would look wonderful in my home. Thanks for sharing this project. Your blog is beautiful…I found it via “Coastal Charm” blog party.
Thank you Kitty 🙂 Yes, I’m thinking of silver and white too. A classic never goes of style!
I’ll be doing a copycat on this one!
I’m honored Maureen 🙂 Do let me know once you have. Would love to see your version
Such a clever idea – and at a fraction of the cost, especially if you were to do quite a lot of the glasses to justify the cost of the chrome spray … and maybe give some of them as presents.
Lovely!
Oh yes. In fact I am gifting a couple of them on Christmas. Look’s lovely + Cost justified.
This is such a great idea! So simple, but just the perfect amount of bling for the holiday season! Thanks so much for commenting on one of my homemade ornament posts, too!
