Ladies, gentlemen(if any), good day to you! Never thought a midweek post would happen. So yay! I have finally managed to give this poor table its worth and I swear I can hear it breathe.

When Rohan’s mom came over for Lunch last weekend, she passed on some of her old furniture from their store. Ah, you should have seen the glow on my face. Nothing makes me as happy as receiving old furniture and crockery. Believe me. And while Rohan planned out where he wants what, I was already giving it poaches of color and envisioning it. My happiness knew no bound!

My original idea was to paint it with old white and add pale gold on the rims. But somehow the idea did not appeal. Like it was too done. Then for a couple of days, I oscillated between black, white and pale green. Surprisingly black is what appealed to me the most. Honestly, I’m a bit scared to use black. Firstly it’s a bold color, secondly you can go terribly wrong with black unless its that little black dress you are talking about in which case you’ll never go wrong. Thirdly, I have a green wall in the milieu. Will it even go? I braved a coat.

And voila! I could already see it brightening up the center patch. How nice of it to have become a happy blip in my usual super white broadcast. I carried on with another coat of glossy black spray. “Okay, looks nice”, I thought, “But there’s something missing”. What’s missing? Enter pinterest.

I remember seeing a couple of tables refurbished with nail heads. Yes, that devil of a Nail head is missing. That’s the missing brick in my puzzle. I wanted nail heads.

Dreading the 4’0 clock heat, I went out to look for nail heads but like everything Nail heads were not available anywhere in the vicinity. While on my way back, I stopped at a stationery to pick up some markers. And guess what was gleaming on the center rack? “Thumbtacks”. Whoa! Why didn’t I think of this. They look like nail heads. Supra! Got home a pack of 100.

I didn’t want it too flashy but wanted an antique look. So I sanded the rims and sides a bit and nailed the thumbtacks onto the corners! Ta-da. Quick and easy. And that reminds me to show you how it came to me. Lo and Behold, the breathless prisoner.

Do saving furniture count? If it does, I’ll go to Heaven when I die.

Toodles!
