This is a plain white stoneware bottle made to look like an old terracotta wine bottle. No, the words weren’t already printed. The bottle was dirty and Tabula Rasa when yours only found it in a flea market. The seller had very low hope on this old dirty bottle and it came to me for 30 INR before I took the word “ageing it” way too seriously!

It sat on my trash stash for about 4 years before I could actually do some work on it. I am lazy of that measure. Plus you have to give me creative liability. An artists brain cannot function like ordinary people. We need space and time and time and time. Hahaha, ya, lot of time is all we need and beer. You know I always thought of becoming a celebrated artist. Not just any artist, a famous artist who does abstract. Do any reepichips on the canvas and it sells. Plus “wasting time” would never exist in his profession. It’ll be termed as “thinking”. Win win situation. m/

Anyway!

So this very talented girl here did some thingamajig to this bottle and you can see how:

Paint it in a color of your choice- I wanted a yellowish orange to get that Terracotta painted with white look.

Next, let it sit for about a week or two

Once you’re bored to death staring at that painted bottle, take steel wool (not sand paper) and randomly scrub. You don’t need to follow a pattern, a motion, direction, don’t be afraid of inertia but be very afraid of the heat of friction that the steel wool might cause to your hand. Wear gloves.

Once you have achieved the distress, transfer letters.

I used pre-made transfers, I talked about them here already. They are very easy to use and you just need to rub them off.

Once done, you can either use it as an accent, a base for a lamp (which I am going to do with rattan lamp shades) or keep wine in it! The power is in your hands.

They look great!

Likey or no likey?
