Halloa sweet bloggie blue-eyed beauties. How are you feeling ? We have a summer day bed in action, here in this nook today and I’m loving my little reading-snoozing space. Did i tell you, I heart day beds? Actually pretty much anything that lets me laze!

The monsoons are here and I can’t wait to see the curtains fly dreamy while I drink tea and finish my Armageddon. And would you believe if I told you it took me only 2 hours to get everything ready? Yes, I have those sprees. Those times when I absolutely revolt, go against any circumstance that comes my way and take my Indian sword and lingo out. ‘We are a very angry race ha! Don’t mess with us or I might just have to inform aunty’. In India, we call everyone aunty- from a new married 30 year old to a 65 year old, “Puja” loving, at times irritating lady. One day I intend to sketch all the aunties we have here. That’d definitely be a fun post- a concept completely new to the rest of the world. No where else in this world will you find the use of this word so profuse.

So what exactly went in making this quick day bed?

A mattress (single)

Few pillows (Take 2 floor cushions, 2 regular cushions and 2 pillows). I played a little with texture here- pleats and handmade texture dominate with a bit of polka for that super feminine look. Yes, there is more to feminism than pink and lavender.

Color scheme: I kept it to shabby and neutrals. In white, denim blue, beach blue, olive green, beige, grey and black. I don’t know if you can see, but my curtains and white and grey.

Keep a table handy. Either on the sides or infront. This will let you have a couple of guests as well. I chose two books that coordinates the color- eat pray love and three men in a boat. I love the latter but the former is absolutely B**ls**t. Sorry. The feeling was very similar when I read twilight.

About the chippy little thing, it was made by me- again kept with the theme.

I brought out my black and white teapot to go with the stripey cushion and also against the blues. The glasses are all sole survivors and thought they’ll find some use in here.

To go with the whole thing, I added a rug. In fact, do add a rug, it lifts any space quite instantly.

So, that’s it. Simple and easy day bed that looks handsome, is functional and maintaining is no hassle. Simple, clean and neutral. This is what my day bed should be! Do you like Day beds? How is your dream daybed? Ethnic, White, ruffles and chic, Swedish inspired? Bring it on.
