Good day to you reader. A very good day to you. How’s Saturday arvo treating you?

In this nook, Saturdays are specially peaceful. The boy wakes up at 6 every Saturday and goes cycling with a friend of ours, leaving me room for DIY, free time and no lunch preps. The only meal I make on Saturdays is breakfast and you’ll need to learn from me “how to make 5 minute breakfast meals”. ย Seriously, without these carefully preserved dump and go recipes, I wonder what I’ll do. This is trade secret but I love you so I’ll share with you sometime.

Btw, I’m supposed to go for morning walks too on weekends but there is always ‘tomorrow’ ๐Ÿ˜›

Back to our DIY then?

Do you know what’s a girl’s biggest nightmare? Dirty upholstery and lack of covers. Pillow and cushion covers to be precise. Or let me put this way: Lack of my kinda beachy cushion covers in the market. I hate everything I see and for the past few months I’ve been making my own. Here’s where you find them.ย So when I needed to cover an extra orphan cushion, I found nothing but a piece of sea-foam cloth in my home and of course no sewing kit. I don’t have a sewing kit. I can’t sew at all.

I whipped up a cushion cover out of thin air, just like that and with the help of 2 safety pins and 1 rubber-band.

Take a look at the collage.

CollageGot it?

Just fold the cloth over the cushion, tuck pins and tie the loose ends with a rubber band. Adjust it to make it look like a flower and voila. No hassle at all. Im a cheat queen.

  1. Awesomely clever idea!! I have some naked square-cut foam pieces for which I am planning to buy a white cloth, get it sewn by the tailor and then buy cushion covers. The hitch here is that they are not the standard size and I would have had to visit the tailor again to get custom-sized covers… Not any more!! I can directly dress them up now!! Thank you so much Rukmini for this idea! ๐Ÿ™‚
