Morning ladies and gentlemen! You doing very well I am guessing, this beautiful morning? It’s a sunny day out here in Mumbai, the house is clean, I have filled my cup {yes, the big a** anthropologie mr. mug} with home made, milk laden English breakfast and I have a knockoff to show you. A DIY Anthropologie style planter makeover which I think you will like {I am hoping you’ll love}

Anthto style planter 5I don’t know why, but come summer and I tend to incline a bit towards colour. I tilt towards pops of colour rather, on white and typically choose turquoise, fuchsia, green and yellow. I have no idea why. But that’s not what we are talking here. Here, it’s all about the anthro style planter makeover.

My mom in law handed me down a few vintage stoneware pieces, out of which there was this tortoise: it has a lid and was used to store after meal refreshments. I loved it to bits really but it was brown. Don’t get me wrong it was a nice, glazed, vintagey brown but it was very 19th century. It would go very well with an early American lake house but somehow in my home it wasn’t fitting. Have a look:

Anthro planter before afterPlus, I was eyeing the cute anthro planters for a long time…so yeah, it was time for wee tort to get a haul from being a refreshment keeper to a super sweet, summery succulent planter.

This is how I DIY’d the anthro style planter

1. Arrange your supplies. 1200 grit sandpaper, White/offwhite emulsion paint {You can use spray or brush it on}, acrylic paint {I used yellow, turquoise, coral and black} and a fine tip brush. I used no. 3, potting soil and succulents.

2. Sand the glazed pottery before you paint it over, this will help the colour stick properly. Sand it once dry, yet again and shower another coat of paint on it.

3. Use fine tip brush to make dots. I made concentric circles, you can let your imagination free as go all out.

4.put potting soil, arrange succulents and voila!
