Asus Zenpad 7, Tea, Spring Palette and feet up. I’ve a very cool gadget to talk about today- one which looks good, is bang for the bucks, and comes with add-ons that’ll definitely prove a distraction from what is essentially a mid-range Android tablet.

Yes, talking decor doesn’t necessarily make me dumb.

You see, I love a handy gadget or two to help me with my blogging and micro-blogging, and that’s where a good tablet comes in. One doesn’t have to add a pair of extra eye balls to see what’s written- thanks to the slightly bigger screen- or fish for space either. This marriage between a cellphone and a PC allows you to have the best of both world in a tablet, and the Asus ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG) certainly justifies its purpose. But this is very basic. What makes it stand out from the others? Well, to give you a heads up there is delight. For now, we’ll get a little into the basic so you know whether to invest in this.

Asus Zenpad 7.0 Screen & Display

I’ll start from the visuals because that is what I primarily slave my gadgets out at. Although not very groundbreaking, the Asus Zenpad 7.0 come with a 7-inch 1280×800 pixel LED-backlit IPS display and does include the company’s signature Tru2Life technology which brings the same high-end TV HDR technology to a tablet. In layman terms: the display is definitely good and you’ll feel the difference when you are instagramming. There is improved sharpness, very intelligent contrast and better outdoor visibility too! And I tell this because I have used another tablet. If you are not into tabs, the difference in visual will not be as dramatic.

Asus Zenpad 7.0 Z370CG Camera: Will I use it to take photos?

Next in line- in department visuals- is the camera. For those inclined on taking the Zenpad out to snap a photo, there’s an 8-megapixel main camera around the back and an option of 2 megapixel front-facing camera. The photo bundle accomodates large apertures of f/2.0 and also Pixelmaster which gets you upto 400% brighter photos. There is a slot for 140 degree Selfie panorama, videos in low light, HDR, ZSL, IR filter, beautification and more. Keeping up with its cellphone cousin, the rear camera has very little or no shutter lag making it a pretty good tab for 11,999.

But let me not mislead you. On tab standards, it’s pretty good. But when it comes to the photo quality, I’ll choose the Zenfone over the Zenpad any day.

Power & Storage

On close heels, come power {hah, now this will not make you responsible for 8 hours}- the Asus Zenpad 7.0 accommodates a non-removable polymer battery: the company claims that they’ve primped up the power backup by up to 175% which should give one about 14 hours in total {with the Asus powercase}. Haven’t roughed it out yet to validate this but even if I get about 8 hours {without case}, it should be good for a days play.

Where the Zenpad absolutely excels is the generous amount of storage, which can be expanded via the microSD slot hidden behind a flap on the tablet’s back. It comes with 16GB of built-in storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB). Now, that’s a number I can live with.

And although very similar to the Zenpad 7.0 Z370C, the Z370CG gets an edge over the former with a Micro-SIM card slot for 3G connectivity.  Which means, you can use it as a phone too! But the best is yet to come!

Audio sounds great with Asus Zenpad

What is quite unique about the Asus Zenpad 7.0 Z370CG is well- the case! I am not being mean here but to take the tab from basic to delight, this Asus audio cover has a lot of role to play. What you see here is the integrated speaker in the Asus Audio Cover that integrates DTS-HD Premium Sound which literally transforms the audio experience. The company claims to have notched the bass from 300Hz to 700Hz and treble from 7kHz to 15kHz, which gives a rich cinema experience. Thanks to its SonicMaster technology that you can get upto 300% louder volume.

So how is it 5.1 Surround? Looks like a single strip

The single strip speaker is six in one, incorporating four Main speakers, one Center and one Subwoofer and delivers sound in an upward direction, and comes with six hours of battery life. Usefully, the case allows the ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370CG to stand neatly on a flat surface in landscape mode for watching films or other footage.

Besides, it also acts as a protective case/screen cover for the device. There’s also a Smart button to do it all automatically. When paired with the Audio Cover, the app allows you to manage the virtual surround function.

Asus _ chair 5Should you want, you can also primp up Your ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370CG with the ASUS Zen Clutch or one of five different coloured ASUS Zen Cases. These come in Black, White, Aurora Metallic, Blue and Orange.

Honestly, look wise, I like it with the audio cover. It fits snug and comes with a beautiful textured finish which is classy and simple all at the same time.

Should you buy it?

Yes. Definitely yes. The Asus Zenpad 7.0 Z370CG will come at Rs. 11,999 and the tablet will also be available with a bundled Audio Cover at Rs. 14,999, which is so worth it. A decent tab doesn’t come cheaper than this, and for simple tasks like ours- it’s a steal.

Now if you all will excuse me, I have sophisticated slavery to do. If you are planning on buying a tablet, hope you will consider this. This is not extraordinary but this is great for my use and its price.
