TruLiving Bean Mugs

An Ode to Coffee!

Baba Budan, a 16th-century Sufi, revered by both Muslims and Hindus, whose shrine is at Baba Budangiri, Chikkamagalur, Karnataka, India, is said to have introduced the coffee plant to India by bringing seven raw beans from the port of Mocha, Yemen while coming back from Haj. Today, Chikmagaluru and Coorg produce some of the world’s best mild coffees owing to it being grown in shade.

Noted for its elusive intensity, low acidity and full bodied taste and aroma, coffee from chikmagaluru and coorg is truly one of the best. And what better way to savour it than in a mug that’s inspired by the coffee plantations that lace the region!

I painted the motifs while in Coorg and the same painting is reproduced in ceramic in limited quantities. I hope you enjoy this little ode to coffee
